Lyon and Villeurbanne “comforted” on a screening campaign in January
“Circumspect” in the face of the campaign initiated by the President of the Region Laurent Wauquiez (LR), Grégory Doucet (EELV) and Cédric Van Styvendael (DG) said they were more in favor of a screening campaign in January and had heard from the Scientific Council for an “independent opinion”. They published a press release on Tuesday in which they explained that they had received this opinion on December 14, signed by the President of the Scientific Council Jean-François Delfraissy. Grégory Doucet and Cédric Van Styvendael assure that the Scientific Council “consolidates the position of the mayors of Lyon and Villeurbanne” but without making the letter public. They specify that, according to the Council, “it is logical to consider now a broad screening strategy at the beginning of January targeted at certain populations including young people and in certain territories” which still seems unclear. The two cities “will adapt the terms of opening their screening centers to implement screening operations in early 2020”, they specify.
