The national Commission carrying out regulation in the energy and utilities (NKREKU), approved the preliminary decision on certification of the LLC “Operator of the gas transportation system of Ukraine” (OHTSU).
The decision was taken at the Commission meeting on Friday, November 22.
“The decision was made. Congratulations “Operator GTS!” — said the head of the national Commission Valery Tarasyuk in the voting, stressing that for final certification must fulfill a number of conditions.
“That’s not all the documents not all of the data required. For final certification we will work together to prepare other documents,” he added.
In turn, the head OHTSU Sergey Makogon, speaking at the meeting before adoption of the Commission decision, recalled that the separation from the NJSC “Naftogaz of Ukraine” activities of natural gas transportation is an important element of preparations for the negotiations on the transit of natural gas through the territory of Ukraine.
“Today we have a very important day, we long to it went. Ukraine has committed itself to conduct unbundling back in 2009 when signing the Agreement of accession to the Treaty establishing the Energy community. Also this is a requirement of the law “On natural gas market”, which was adopted in 2017. This is an important step not only from the point of view of adaptation of European legislation, but also from the point of view of our negotiating process with “Gazprom” about the continuation of the transit,” he said.
According to the draft text, the Commission must be informed of the preliminary certification of the Energy community Secretariat. After an evaluation, a national regulator will be able to make a final decision.
