The national hockey League (NHL) announced on Wednesday the postponement of the next draft, which was to be held in Montreal on 26 and 27 June, due to the pandemic of COVID-19.
In addition, the “Combines” (1 to 6 June in Buffalo), where individual hopes to perform physical tests and interviews with the training, and the awards ceremony (June 18 in Las Vegas) have also been deferred.
“Although unfortunate for the hockey fans in general, and for our supporters here in Montreal, this decision was the right one to take in the circumstances, has commented on France Margaret Bélanger, executive vice-president and chief commercial officer of the Group CH. I am confident that the League will propose an alternative that will satisfy all the amateurs of hockey.”
No new date has yet been announced for these three events. The location, the date and the format of the lottery to determine which team repêchera at the first level are also yet to be determined.
