The novelist and French actress Françoise Dorin dies at age 89

The novelist and French actress Françoise Dorin, also a writer of songs for Dalida, Claude François and even Celine Dion, who died Friday following a long illness, a few days before his 90th birthday, announced to the AFP his grandson.

 

“My grand-mother died this morning at the hospital. […] She was sick for several years, ” said his grandson, Thomas Mitsinkides.

 

Daughter of singer Rene Dorin, Francoise Dorin had started her career as an actress alongside Michel Piccoli and Roger Hanin.

 

She was then put to writing (without giving up an acting career), becoming in the 1970s one of the authors of theatre of the most played in France.

 

Its aftershocks have been launched by the biggest players of that era : Jacqueline Maillan, Edwige Feuillère, François Perrier, but also with Jeanne Moreau and Jean-Claude Brialy — not to mention her companion since 1975, the actor Jean Piat, today aged 93.

 

A playwright, she has also published numerous novels, almost all of the books on success, such as single beds, or Nini patte-en-l’air.

 

She has also written many songs for artists such as Dalida, Mireille Mathieu, Claude François and even Celine Dion.
