The Opéra de Québec cancel its production of autumn. The opera Don Pasquale, which was to start the season 2020-2021, will not be mounted, as it was expected, at the Grand Théâtre de Québec.
This opera by the Italian composer Gaetano Donizetti, who was to be presented in October, is impossible to put in place in respect of the health standards that have been issued to the performing arts.
This production requires the presence of a team totalling a hundred people. The Opéra de Québec wishes to bring this production in a future season.
In regards to the season 2020-2021, the organization is not able to confirm the implementation of an alternative programming that could be done, in the course of the next few months, in compliance with the recommendations of the public health.
“There is nothing planned for the moment, but we are working to find solutions”, said, during an exchange of e-mails, the communications director Claudine Jacques.
The Opéra de Québec continues to be in line with excerpts from his earlier productions, under the theme of “Opera for all”, and you can view them on the platforms Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
