The SCO leaders called for the implementation of the Joint comprehensive plan of action (SVPD) on the Iranian nuclear program, calling on all parties to the transaction for the strict fulfillment of its obligations. This is stated in the Bishkek Declaration the Council of heads of member States of the SCO.
“Member States consider important for sustainable implementation of the Joint comprehensive plan of action on Iran’s nuclear program and in accordance with Resolution 2231 of the UN Security Council urged all parties to strictly fulfil all its obligations for the full and effective implementation of the document”, – document quoting the press service of the Kremlin.
In addition, countries of the Shanghai cooperation organization agreed to expand cooperation in the field of defense and security and will continue regular joint anti-terrorist exercises.
“Member States will continue to expand cooperation in the field of defense and security cooperation in ensuring security for major events, as well as training to enhance capacity of the armed forces and the competent authorities of the member States of the SCO,” the Declaration reads.
Also, the SCO countries will continue to conduct regular joint military command and staff antiterrorist exercises “Peace mission” and similar activities of the competent authorities. In this regard, the participants of the forum noted the outcomes of the joint border operation “Unity-2018”, held from 20 July to 20 October last year.
In addition, the organization confirms that it will continue to cooperate in the disarmament, control and non-proliferation of nuclear weapons.
“Member States will continue to cooperate in the disarmament, control and non-proliferation of nuclear weapons and arms control, the peaceful uses of nuclear energy, diplomatic and political responses to regional challenges to the nonproliferation regimes”, – the document says.
In addition, the SCO leaders reaffirmed the stance on the inevitability of resolving the situation in Syria via dialogue on the basis of ensuring the sovereignty of the Arab Republic.
“Member States confirmed their common position on the inevitability of resolving the situation in Syria through dialogue on the basis of ensuring the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of this country”, – stated in the Declaration.
Recall that in Bishkek on Friday held a summit of the SCO. The participation of the heads of all countries-participants: Russia, Kyrgyzstan, China, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, India and Pakistan, as well as heads of observer States: Belarus, Afghanistan, Iran and Mongolia.
