The Orchestre symphonique de Quebec has just put online a new video which mixes classical music and theatre. You can see the musicians interpret a segment of the opera Carmen, interspersed with segments where the actor Jacques Leblanc book excerpts from the Treachery of Scapin.
This video, viewed on YouTube and on the page Facebook of the SOQ, is part of its Operation comfort, put on by the québec since the beginning of the pandemic.
The Quebec symphony Orchestra has performed in containment, the intermezzo between the 3rd and the 4th act of the opera Carmen of Bizet. Found, among musicians, the first violins Benoit Cormier and Catherine Dallaire, the cellist Blair Lofgren, the flutist, Jacinthe Forand, Hélène Déry with the English horn, Marc-André Lalonde to the timbales and the harpist Isabelle Fortier.
The actor Jacques Leblanc plays the roles of Géronte and Scapin in act II of this comedy of Molière, where we find the famous phrase “But what the devil was he going to do in this galley?”
There is, throughout the video, the presence of small paper boats, in reference to this famous galley.
