Vandal Igor Podporin, who a year ago attacked in the Tretyakov gallery for the painting of Ilya Repin “Ivan the terrible and his son Ivan”, has received 2,5 years of a colony. The sentence Zamoskvoretsky court of Moscow, the correspondent of “MIR 24” Anastasia lihodedova.
Vandal from the Tretyakov gallery hides her face behind a cap, although TV cameras and reporters is not afraid. Yes, and the judge’s sentence Igor Podporin accepted without much emotion. The guilt the man admitted in part. Initially, the prosecution asked for the vandal three years in a General regime colony. The court as a mitigating circumstances counted, his positive reputation. The man already held in jail for 11 months and can apply for PAROLE. But the defense intends to appeal the verdict. According to the lawyer of Repin’s painting is not of special cultural value.
“We have a set, a list of particularly valuable objects of cultural heritage signed by the President. In this set, this picture does not exist”, – said the lawyer Igor Lovyagin Podporina Anna.
A year ago, Podporin – last visitor of the Museum. A few minutes before the closing of the Tretyakov gallery took a stand fence and struck several blows on the picture. The canvas was torn in three places, damaged the author’s frame. By happy coincidence, the vandal missed the most important thing – the face and hand of the king and the Prince. After the arrest, his action, the man explained, “protested the content of the picture”. Like, it’s all a lie – Ivan the terrible did not kill his son.
“Came to see her. At eight in the evening went and wanted to leave in the cupboard drank 100 grams of vodka. Do not drink vodka, that covered”, – said earlier Podporin.
However, on first hearing their testimony Podporin denied: said that before the attack did not take a drop.
Now the painting is under restoration. The work will cost not less than 20 million rubles. Critics say that the return of the painting in the hall will soon.
This is not the first attempt to destroy the picture. During the life of the artist, the painting was defaced. Repin had to recreate the face of Ivan the terrible and his son.
