The house of representatives of the United States Congress unanimously adopted a resolution expressing support for NATO.
In particular, the Alliance called “the most important and critical link in the security sphere between the United States and Europe,” reports Interfax-Ukraine.
The resolution also States that Congress supports the continuation of the sanctions the United States imposed against Russia.
Earlier, U.S. President Donald trump called on the leaders of NATO countries at a summit in Brussels to increase their defense spending to 4% of GDP, which is twice the current standards of the Alliance.
Donald trump has repeatedly criticized NATO allies for the insufficient, in his opinion, financing of the Alliance. In his opinion, insufficient defense spending by other countries to undermine the security of NATO.
2% of GDP recorded in the documents of NATO’s level of defence spending, however, most countries do not perform.
