RIMOUSKI – The number of initiatives in the field of urban agriculture grows in the nine municipalities of the MRC de Rimouski-Neigette.
In particular, by the fall, the nine municipalities will establish a joint regulation in order to allow citizens to raise chickens on their property in urban areas.
In the same spirit, greenhouses, community and residential will also soon be permitted. The idea is to offer to all citizens, wherever they are on the territory of the MRC, the chance of producing fruits and vegetables on a small scale in order to aim for a degree of self-sufficiency in food.
Otherwise, the MRC and the body COSMOSS teamed up to launch the internet site www.agricultureurbainemrcrn.com.
There are, among other things, information on the producers of the region, legislation, training offers and funding opportunities for the bio-food sector.
