Negotiations suspended due to the Taliban attack on a U.S. military base in Afghanistan
The United States has suspended negotiations with the Taliban, after the attack on a US military base in Afghanistan. This was stated by the special envoy of the US state Department to bring peace to Afghanistan Zalmay Khalilzad on Twitter.
According to him, America has taken a pause in negotiations for a few days that the Taliban were able to consult regarding this incident.
“When I met the Taliban, I expressed outrage at yesterday’s attack on Bagram, which killed two and injured dozens of civilians. The Taliban must show that they are willing and able to respond to the aspiration of Afghans for peace. We make a small pause to ensure that they have consulted with their leadership on this important issue,” wrote Khalilzad.
