The Verkhovna Rada adopted in General the bill No. 2179 on the prevention and counteraction to legalization of income obtained by criminal means, financing of terrorism and financing of proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
This law is aimed at protecting the rights and legitimate interests of citizens, society and state, the national security.
The law increases the amount of the financial transactions subject to compulsory financial monitoring from 150 thousand UAH 400 thousand UAH with simultaneous decrease in the number of characteristics of financial transactions (from 17 to 4).
In addition, the law introduces the obligation for payment systems to accompany money transfers with information about the payer and the recipient, to ensure the availability and completeness of the information on the payer and the payee, as well as set of measures aimed at combating the manipulation of money obtained from crimes related to legalization of income obtained by criminal means.
The law also introduces international instruments, the freezing of assets, improves the legislative aspects that affect the quality of crime investigation for money laundering.
