Having been part of the coaching staff of the Montreal Expos in the late 1980s, the American Bobby Winkles passed away on Friday.

Man of baseball, he has played himself in the minor leagues from 1951 to 1958 before becoming a renowned coach at the university level, in Arizona. In major league baseball, Winkles was the manager of the Angels, California and of the Oakland a’s during the 1970’s. He himself had handed in his resignation at Oakland, in 1978, following a cold with the notorious owner Charlie Finley.
