In less than 11 months 2019 transshipment of grain cargoes in the ports of Ukraine exceeded the total 2018 6.1 million tons and is estimated according to operational data, more than 4.6 million tons.
This is stated in the message of administration of seaports of Ukraine.
Compared to last year, the total capacity of grain transshipment in ports increased by 9% and amount to about 85 million tons per year.
As reported, the Administration of seaports of Ukraine is actively cooperating with the business to increase the facilities for handling of agricultural cargoes in ports. This fall between the ASD and business agreement was reached on the implementation of two investment projects in this sector.
“In September, ASD signed a contract with the company “kernel”, the world’s largest producer and exporter of sunflower oil, which provides for investments in port infrastructure “Chernomorsk” in the amount of more than UAH 3 bn. And at the end of October, in the framework of the First investment forum RE:THINK with the participation of President of Ukraine, signed a Memorandum of understanding between ASD, one of China’s largest corporations, COFCO and Mariupol hostilities. Its implementation will allow to increase production of agricultural goods at the port “Mariupol” 3.5 times”, – said the head of administration of seaports of Ukraine Raivis Veckagans.
It is planned that the port “Black sea” ASD will carry out dredging works in the waters and along the quays, through which will be shipped agricultural goods, the company “kernel”.
In the port “Mariupol”, in addition to dredging, will be carried out reconstruction of berths №2 and №3. It is important that both projects provide a guaranteed increase in traffic that will accelerate the return on investment of the state enterprise.
It is noted that before the end of the year should be completed the reconstruction of pier No. 4 in Mariupol, in the rear of which the state stevedoring company completes the construction of a new grain terminal.
Also in October, 2019 ASD has completed the restoration of the passport of the depths in the port “Nikolaev”, which is a leader in the handling of agricultural cargoes in Ukraine. This project was the third volume to the PORT this year – nearly 900 thousand cubic meters.
Two major projects are ongoing in the Ukrainian ports Mariupol and Berdyansk. In General, the volume of maintenance dredging conducted by the own fleet and by order of the Administration of seaports of Ukraine in 2019, already reached the mark of 5 million cubic meters.
