Trial for terrorism in Montreal: a charge of less

The Crown claims that the two young people wanted to leave Canada to join the armed group islamic State abroad.

The charge of having facilitated a terrorist act, weighed against two young Montrealers has been withdrawn on Monday.

 

The jurors who hear the record Sabrine Djermane and El Mahdi Jamali have been informed of the decision by the judge Marc David.

 

The judge of the superior Court has explained that the decision was taken for purely legal reasons.

 

The two young people are now facing three charges : attempting to leave Canada to commit a terrorist act abroad, to possession of an explosive substance for a purpose dangerous, and have committed an act for the benefit or under the direction of a terrorist group.

 

The trial has been adjourned for a few hours, to allow counsel to discuss with their clients.

 

The Crown claims that the two young people wanted to leave Canada to join the armed group islamic State abroad, and that they had raised the necessary ingredients to making a bomb.
