Two men arrested in Belfort in possession of explosives and detonators were indicted and placed in detention, announced the public prosecutor of the city.

“Informed, the PNAT (national anti-terrorist prosecutor) did not take up the procedure opened following the discovery of these explosives and detonators”, specified, Eric Plantier, who opened a judicial investigation “of the chiefs transport of explosive products or devices by at least two people ”.
These two Belfortains aged 30 and 38, unfavorably known to the courts, were arrested on Friday in possession of half a bread of explosive, detonator wires, a hunting rifle and around 200 ammunition of different calibres, in the commons of a building in the sensitive neighborhood of Residences in Belfort, according to the Republican East who revealed the information. They were also indicted for “acquisition and possession of weapons or elements of weapons of categories A, B and C” and “transport without legitimate reason of weapon, ammunition or their elements of category C”, specified the prosecutor.
The investigations entrusted in joint referral to the departmental security of Belfort and to the judicial police of Besançon are continuing to determine for what use were intended these explosives.
