Two relatives of Patrick Balkany indicted in a new court case

Two relatives of Patrick Balkany indicted in a new court case

The case surrounding the Balkany family is expanding. After the custody of Patrick Balkany, lifted Wednesday evening, information revealed by the Obs, two former leaders of Semalrep (the mixed economy company in charge of real estate operations in the city), and close to the former mayor de Levallois-Perret, were indicted for “misuse of corporate assets”, “Misappropriation of public property” and “Illegal taking of interest.” The daughter of the Balkany husbands, as well as their son-in-law, were also heard in the context of this case. Two police custody were still in progress on Friday evening.

During these three days of hearing, on January 6, 7 and 8, the investigators tried to shed light on the conditions for the free provision of premises belonging to Semalrep: companies belonging to the daughter of the couple Balkany would thus have been able to benefit from these premises to domicile their companies there. The room was not actually supposed to be operated. The couple’s daughter is notably the manager of a perfume and beauty products company.

    Report to Tracfin

According to our information, the investigation into this new side of the Balkany business began in 2015, following a report to Tracfin, Bercy’s anti-money laundering and terrorist financing unit. It then relates to financial movements between several companies and Semalrep, a structure responsible for all real estate transactions in the city of Hauts-de-Seine. On November 20, 2019, a judicial investigation was opened, for “misuse of corporate assets”, “Concealment”, “forgery and use of forgery”, “Misappropriation of property from a public deposit”, “Aggravated money laundering”, over the period 2008-2017.

With these two new indictments, the cases concerning Patrick Balkany therefore stretch today to the faithful of the former mayor. After the tax fraud and money laundering section, in which Patrick and Isabelle Balkany were sentenced to prison, the judges are now turning to the opaque financial movements surrounding the relatives of the Balkany family, all in more or less direct connection with the Semalrep.
