“Ukravtodor” plans to use coal waste for road construction

The Ministry of infrastructure together with “Ukravtodor” consider the issue of construction of roads using slag.

The Ministry of infrastructure in cooperation with relevant institutions “Ukravtodor” exploring the possibility to use ash and slag for road construction, informs Rus.Media.

This was stated by the Minister of infrastructure Vladimir Omelian reporters after a government meeting on Wednesday, February 6.

“We are now working with relevant institutions of “Ukravtodor” a proposal. We know that such technology is used in several European countries.

It is important simple compliance with environmental standards, because we understand that these slags contain environmentally hazardous waste, so they do not harm the health of people,” he said.

The official also said that in addition to the compliance standards of ecology waste coal, also studied the question of the rigidity and hardness for use in road construction.

Emelyan said that after the corresponding conclusion of the profile of the Institute of “Ukravtodor” will decide on the further use of this material.


The slag products are the integrated thermal transformation of rocks and solid fuel burning.

As we reported earlier, on 8 February, the General contractors of the State Agency of automobile roads of Ukraine (Ukravtodor) will begin large-scale operation to eliminate the holes on the roads.

Ukravtodor also ordered to launch asphalt concrete factories, to be established on each road repair crews and to organize their daily work.

On roads where emergency pits threaten traffic safety, will set the appropriate warning signs prior to the completion of the work.
