    WEATHER – Risk of flooding in the southwest and snow near the Alps. The weather of this Thursday, December 31 in the evening and January 1 will be wintry, dominated by persistent rains in the southwest, but also snowfall in the plains, in the Jura, in the Rhône-#Alpes and as far as the Paris region. , according to Météo-#France forecasts.

    Note in this regard the passage in orange vigilance for snow-ice on the Ardèche, Drôme and Isère, with a snowy episode from Friday morning at 6 a.m. On the other hand, the orange vigilance for floods is maintained in three departments of the south-west: Landes, Gers and Tarn-et-#Garonne.

    It will snow from 600 to 800 meters above sea level on the southern Alps, from 800 to 1000 meters on the Corsican mountain. It will also snow, much lower, from 200 to 300 meters and even as far as the plain in the Jura and Rhône-#Alpes, to the east of the Massif Central. These snowfalls will be more sustained in the Ardèche, Drôme and Isère, placed in orange vigilance.

    Frosts all over the country or almost on January 1

    In these departments, we expect during the day between one to three centimeters in the Rhône valley, five to fifteen centimeters from 200 to 300 meters above sea level and 15 to 30cm from 500 to 700 meters. In neighboring departments more used to snow (Loire, Haute-#Loire, Ain), we expect a layer of 3 to locally 10cm. In the Lyon region, it will snow in very small quantities.

    Over the rest of the country, the sky will remain busier. It will snow here and there over the northeast to the Paris region and Hauts-de-#France, but without giving significant amounts of snow. Rain showers will sweep the Atlantic coast and then the south of Aquitaine in the afternoon. It will snow from 500 to 700 m in the Pyrenees.

    This Friday morning, the frosts will spare only the coast and the extreme southwest: it will be between 1 and -2 degrees in general. During the day, temperatures will display 7 to 10 degrees on the Mediterranean rim, 5 to 9 on the southwest and the Atlantic coast, between 1 and 4 degrees elsewhere.
