In the experiment, which lasted for 16 years, have taken part about three thousand people aged 65 years. They were divided into two groups, one of which loved seafood and systematically used them and the second very rarely included them in your diet or even abandon such delicacies.

For the health of the volunteers observed a group of scientists who regularly took their blood pressure, blood tests and other procedures.

The results of the experiment proved that people who ate seafood at least once a week, life expectancy increased by two years, and the risk of heart attacks, strokes and other heart problems decreased by 30%.

Scientists say that such products contain high amounts of omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins a, D, E as well as iodine, selenium, calcium and zinc. All these elements have a beneficial effect on health, in particular, to lower “bad” cholesterol in the blood, protecting against hypertension, strengthen the immune system and reduce susceptibility to depression.
