The largest traveling circus in France has its habits in Bordeaux where it has been coming every winter for 35 years to present its new show. Only here, the health crisis, again it, plays the spoilsports: the Gruss circus should have started its performances on December 18. The next firing window could open on January 15 if the government gives the green light. We will find out on Thursday at Jean Castex’s next press conference on the health rules to be applied in the coming weeks.
To tell the truth, “at the present time, the signals are negative”, according to Rémy Betuwe, the communications manager of the Arlette Gruss circus. He recalls that Bordeaux is the main stage of his tour, the most lucrative too. If the date of departure for the Bordeaux performances is not yet known, what is certain is that the marquee must have been dismantled on the Place des Quinconces before February 15, the date of the start of the Pleasure Fair.
