The Ukrainian authorities are planning in the fall of 2020 to conduct local elections in the Donbass. The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said in the program Freedom of speech Savik Shuster.
Answering the question, is it true that he plans to hold local elections in the autumn 2020 on the territory of Ukraine, including the Donbass, Zelensky said: “It’s true. After all, the feeling that we are one country, where our people must begin with this moment. I don’t think it’s the little things. Elections are held according to the legislation of Ukraine on the entire territory of the state. It’s our idea”.
Zelenski also said that the law on the status of Donbass will be considered after the Norman meeting on 9 December.
The President noted that the law on the special status now works. Its effect will last until the end of the year.
“In the framework of decentralization … (in the Constitution will be change – ed.), the Law on the special status is now. It is valid until 31 August. He current law. To extend this law and vote in the Parliament – this can only be done after returning from Normandy – if we see that there are steps towards each other…, ” said Zelensky.
Earlier it was reported that Zelensky want to hold elections in “LDNR” in the fall. Advisor Zelensky hopes to synchronize the elections in the Donbas with the local 31 October, but with some conditions.
