St. Petersburg football club “Zenith” became the champion of Russia. His closest rival on the score – Lokomotiv — lost her match Tula “Arsenal” for three rounds before the end of the championship. With this defeat Muscovites have lost the chance to overtake St. Petersburg, reports “WORLD 24”.
“Red-green” met with Tula in their territory. The home team opened the scoring in the 24th minute of the game thanks to a goal by midfielder Zelimkhan Bakaev. His success cemented the Montenegrin striker Luka Djordjevic, who scored the ball in the 59th minute of the game. Soak through “railroad” failed: the game ended with the score 2:0 in favor of Arsenal.
The result became the champion “Zenith”. This victory became for “blue-white-blue” the sixth (including the Soviet period). It is noteworthy that their triumph the players probably met in the air: at the end of the game between “Lokomotiv” and “Arsenal” St. Petersburg was returning home from Grozny, where he played out a draw with local “Ahmad”.
At the same time, the Northern capital is ready to officially meet the victors: in St. Petersburg lit the Rostral columns, and the tower “Lahta-the centre” became the colors of the logo of “Zenit”. In addition, the stadium on Krestovsky island will turn into a Golden color.
It is noteworthy that the coach of the team Sergey Semak became the first who managed to win the Russian championship as a player and as a head coach.
As a player, Semak has won the tournament five times: in CSKA in 2003, in the “Rubin” in 2008 and 2009 and in the “Zenith” in 2010 and 2012. In addition, he became the champion as assistant coach of “Zenit” in 2015: then team coach of the Portuguese Andre Villas-Boas. The post 43-year-old Semak took may 29, 2018.
